Yes, Canada Day is just around the corner and there is so much to celebrate in our great country. Westport is an amazing destination for your summer travels for the long weekend or summer vacations.

Westport has been a sought-after destination for relaxation and connection with nature for generations.

From the early 1900’s The Rideau Queen was one of the most luxurious and iconic steamships to grace the Rideau Canal, bringing guests to the village of Westport. Built in Kingston by the Davis Dry Dock Company, the Rideau Queen was 108 feet long and 24 feet wide. She was designed specifically to navigate the canal’s locks and shallow waters. Passengers enjoyed luxurious amenities that rivalled the finest hotels of the time, including steam heat, electric lighting, electric fans, elegantly finished staterooms, and a dining room seating 72 guests.

Fast forward to 2025, and you can still find calm, luxurious experiences in and around the village of Westport. Whether you come by boat or car, the harbour front is a wonderful place to unwind. Bring your own picnic or enjoy some take-away delights from local restaurants, you can have a waterside dining experience this weekend.

For Canada Day, there will be a parade starting at 10:30 am in the village, followed by a BBQ at the Lions Club Beach, free live entertainment for the whole family and fireworks to end the day in style!

Another adventure this weekend is the Rideau Lakes Studio Tour.

Leaving a better legacy while building future-ready homes for Canadians is the Land Ark story.

Natural Resources Canada commissioned a short documentary film featuring Watercolour. We are proud to be part of the story of Westport that will be told for generations to come.

We also hope this story inspires other builders to build better for our nation.
